Melanie is an Italian folklorist and scholar specializing in the history of the Italian-American diaspora. She has worked with leading cultural institutions on a range of projects including the National Italian Cultural Center’s Heritage Collection, the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the Italian-American Diaspora, the Italian American Cultural Center at the University of Colorado, and the Institute for Cultural Heritage and the Italian American Studies Program at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Unlike the other Italian American communities that spring up in the state, the Casa alba melanie was built as a residence for the Italian immigrant families who were allowed to settle in the United States. The homes are built out of concrete and adobe bricks and have marble, ceramic, and wooden floors.

We’re talking about very tall houses with a lot of glass, and the rooms are all lighted and airy. The architects of Casa alba melanie took the best of the adobe brick and molded it into glass and stained it with paint. The result is a very comfortable home with a lot of character.
I’ve lived in a few homes in the last few years and while I find them well-appointed, I’m always surprised by how many people do not live in them. As in, if I could get my hands on $250k and some paint and paint it to the exact color I wanted and then paint it over.
