As you may have already noticed, I have a love affair with the word “inspection.” I love the idea that it is a thing we do to make sure our home is in good enough shape to be livable. So from now on, I would like to call myself an inspector. And I will be taking the time to look over my house, making sure it is in good enough shape, no matter what it looks like.
I’ve started this blog not because I think it will be something that will help me do an inspection, but because I’m curious about how people are doing inspections these days. And one reason I am curious is because I have to say that my biggest criticism of home inspectors in the past was my experience with my own. My house was fine, but it wasn’t a great one. So I have to say that I have grown to be a bit of an expert on inspection techniques.
My biggest criticism of my inspection experience was that I think I was too hard on myself. I think we all know that it is ok to get a little sloppy, but it is not ok to have a good inspection. The trouble is that some inspectors are much like me. They get so good at what they do that they get so good at being sloppy, that they can’t help but get sloppy.
The problem with this is that it is a form of self-satisfaction. If you are an inspector that gets so good at being sloppy that you cannot help but be sloppy, then you are not doing a good job, you are doing a bad job. Just like with self-satisfaction, you can become satisfied with your sloppy inspection.
Just like with self-satisfaction, you can become satisfied with your sloppy inspection. In my opinion, this is just the beginning of the fun. The fun part is going to be getting so good at being sloppy that you cannot help but be sloppy.
It’s great to have a lot of work to do, but it’s not great to be at the heart of it all. Just like with self-satisfaction, you can become satisfied with your sloppy inspection. Just like with self-satisfaction, you can become satisfied with your sloppy inspection.
Home Inspection businesses are a dying breed. Sure, there are a lot of them. But they’re a dying breed because they take a lot of the fun out of home-improvement. Even the guy who gets it right the first time can be thrown out by his crew who think they are experts. I have been around for a long time, and I can tell you I don’t like this trend.
I’ve seen a lot of this type of business (and I mean a lot). The fact is, there are some people who work hard and get it right every single time. Then there are people who get it wrong 99% of the time. It is a hard and difficult business to be a part of, but if you take the time to do a little research, you will be rewarded with a much higher success rate.
In the past I have done a great deal of home inspections, and even though I am not a home inspector, I have seen an increasing number of these business names pop up. For the most part, I think these businesses are trying to cash in on the booming demand for home inspection services. A lot of these are small local businesses that just make a few thousand dollars a year, but I have seen some of these small businesses with hundreds of employees grow to millions of dollars.
It’s interesting to note that a great number of these businesses go by a few different names, depending on their location and the area they serve. I’m sure a lot of these small business owners are struggling to find the right words to describe how they operate and the work they perform, but I don’t think it’s a great way to get your name out there if you’re not a professional.
